Diagnostics

All diagnostic procedures — spiroergometry, lactate testing, strength measurement, EMG (electromyography), and mobility analysis — together form a complete performance profile, in a depth that hardly any other private coaching concept offers. We combine the results into one integrated report that not only reveals strengths and weaknesses, but translates them directly into concrete training measures.

Science that delivers.

SPIROERGOMETRY.

Spiroergometry is the gold standard of cardiopulmonary performance diagnostics. Under load, it measures respiratory gases — oxygen uptake, CO₂ output, minute ventilation — and delivers the most precise data on the individual performance capacity of the cardiovascular system. Combined with lactate performance diagnostics, it produces a complete biochemical and physiological profile that forms the basis of any serious training plan. A standard in elite sport for decades — and for Thomas Ott, an indispensable tool in holistic coaching.

LACATATE.
PERFORMANCE DIAGNOSTICS.

Lactate is the biochemical fingerprint of metabolic performance. Lactate performance diagnostics identifies individual thresholds — aerobic and anaerobic — and shows in which intensity ranges training works most effectively. Too little intensity produces no meaningful stimulus; too much leads to overload and injury. Lactate diagnostics makes training zones measurable and enables a level of control that applies equally to Olympic champions and health-focused beginners.

STRENGTH MEASUREMENT.

With the IM Lifter and the VALD ForceDecks, I use two of the most precise measurement systems sports science has to offer today. Both systems capture isometric and dynamic force values with the highest accuracy — maximum strength, rate of force development, side asymmetries, and inter-muscular coordination become visible in real time. What this means in practice: I identify muscular imbalances before they become injuries, detect weak points in the musculoskeletal system, and document training progress objectively and reproducibly. Strength measurement is never an end in itself — it is the foundation of every targeted intervention.

MOBILITY.

Mobility is not just an athletic quality — it is a marker of health. Restricted ranges of motion are often linked to muscular shortening, joint stress, and increased risk of injury. I assess mobility systematically, analyse restrictions in their biomechanical context, and develop individual mobilisation and stretching programmes that are integrated into the overall plan. Never viewed in isolation — always as an integral part of a functional body system.
